John Denham said: "National Skills Academies give employers the chance to shape the future skills system. Led by employers with Government support, these centres of excellence help us identify and tackle those skills shortages in sectors vital for the competitiveness of tomorrow's economy." 132 million working years wasted by employees in the wrong job 01 April 2008 01 / 04 / 08 New research from the Skills Commission released ahead of the publication of its information, advice and guidance inquiry has revealed the vital need for good lifelong careers advice in Britain. The study showed that a fifth (21 per cent) do not feel they are in a job that makes best use of their skills and a further 41 per cent have been in such a job in the past. NEXTSTEP BLACK COUNTRY AWARDS GO TO TWO LOCAL CLIENTS! 11 October 2007 The Walsall Lifelong Learning Awards recognises IAG. The nextstep Award - This award recognises where information, advice or guidance (IAG) has contributed to the learner’s decision to participate in learning and achieve new goals. MARIE STANTON - Nominated by the College for Continuing Education Marie sought advice on how to return to work after having survived a terrible school experience, raised six children by the age of 26, recovered from several life-threatening illnesses and looking after her sick husband. Her goal now is to become an IT tutor. Adult Learner Celebrations 05 September 2007 Black Country LSC Area Director Andy Brown did the honours as people from across the West Midlands were honoured for their achievements at the West Midlands 2007 Adult Learners’Week Awards. Andy was delighted to share in the celebrations as learners received their awards in recognition of their achievements. |
